What are the differences between IAC and BYU CM Leadership Council? The major objectives of the Industrial Advisory Committee are to:
- Assist in assuring the curriculum and instruction is meeting the needs of the industry.
- Assist with Student Placement
- Fund raising
The IAC has made significant contributions to the Construction Management program in the top two areas. The IAC also had success in assisting with purchasing computers and building remodeling. However, the chance of raising money for an endowed faculty chair and funded professorships has not been as successful. There are two reasons for the limited success of the IAC in the area of fund-raising. First is that the members of the IAC are employees of companies rather than owners of companies. Second, the members of the IAC that own their own companies, have not matured enough in their company development to be more philanthropic.
